I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota quad cab 3.7 L V6. I started watching some videos on YouTube last night about exhaust and manifolds and mufflers so I decided to rip my muffler and catalytic converter off and now it's so loud that I need to put something on there and I know a lot about my truck but I know zero about exhaust and mufflers and catalytic converters. I was going to buy a muffler and maybe a glass pack tonight and I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations on what to get I'm thinking of spending around $200 and doing the install myself. So if anybody has any recommendations to make it still sound mean I'm all ears.

I agree, put the cat back on, or at least a high flow cat, that will definitely help with it being too loud, plus it will be closer to legal. I've heard of some people running without the muffler and liking it, others find it too loud. Otherwise best bet is to search YouTube for different muffler sound videos.

what my what my plan was was to tear it all off and rebuild it myself but that didn't go as planned. I had a cherry bomb on after my cat with a piece and a tip on there. And I went down to tighten it down after work today and there was nothing there. It fell off somewhere and I have no idea where I did a lot of highway driving last night and I thought it was very secure but I was obviously wrong. So now I'm out a little bit of money so I'm just going to put it back at stock and plan better next time

My 03 3.9 2wd had stock exhaust system and made that 6 cyl sucking noise. My local muffler shop is a three generation family owned where grandfather install my first custom system in the 60s. Grandson install my Dakota system cutting the Y pipe and adding a 3 inch Hi Flow OBC2 cat with 3 inch on to a Big 3 inch Turbo muffler on out with 3 inch and a Stainless tip. After leaving the shop with windows closed I pulled up to a light and wondered who was rumbling up beside me. A quick look around and it was me. At 70 it's a little much for me but my 20 year old thinks it's perfect so it must be. That was a year ago and nothing has fallen off. Steve
