Default Hello Dakota members-Driving Lights Upgrade

Can anyone recommend or suggest an idea of how I can upgrade my driving lights for my 2005 Dakota SLT ?...I drive home at night and never have the opportunity to use my high beams because of the endless traffic coming at me. I would like simply to change out the bulbs using a plug and play type bulb but I have no idea what to get, or even if this would be a waist of time. (My headlights are stock, but with new bulbs) Thank you in advance for any ideas.

Make sure your lenses are clean and not yellowed or cloudy.

Use a high output bulb (note: The brighter they are, the less they last. It's a life/output curve.)

I dunno about your truck, but the ones I see in the USA don't have driving lights, but fog lights.

(They call them driving lights; but that's not what they are.)

Cleaning and improving the stock lights, or picking up some high quality after markets, is where I'd be spending the effort.

(And I have to ask, if you're in traffic, how much more light do you need? Can't you also use the lights of the other vehicles to help see what may or may not be in front of you? It's what I do ... )

Sounds good RalpP....thank you very much. Actually I didn't realize that with regards to the brighter the shorter the life span. I was looking at getting some LED bulbs but I do have to restore the lenses a bit first, so I'll think on that a little longer. I was even thinking of bumper mounting another pair of lights, but I think I'll scrap that idea. Thanks again for responding.

Skip the LEDs and the PNP HIDs; they may put more light out, but for that, you might as well just turn your high beams on. (The highs will probably glare less than the cheap HID PNP kits and the cheap LEDs).

I'm running NightBreakers (in a Hella 4x6 conversion housing!) in my 1988; they have something like 1,000 hours running to 75% output, so I've got it in my calendar to replace them every May. But I DO like the output of them! *grins*
