Just purchased a 90 Dakota with 100k mikes. It has been sitting for 5 years without being started.
Is there a way to remove the existing gas from the tank without removing the tank?
If the fuel pump is good, you could disconnect the fuel line from the throttle body, and bypass the ASD relay to keep the pump running until it empties the tank.
This won't completely empty it; however, at that point, some good gas, and some stabilizer and some water absorber will help get it as good as possible.
I'd consider pulling the bed and siphoning it out then using one-time-use rags and wiping out the rest of it as much as possible; then refilling it after reassembly.
