Default something hinky with electrical system...

my 2000 Dakota quad cab is acting-a-fool...a little background info 1st~~
everything worked fine when I got her. I live in a community with 6 speed bumps in and out. I also got into a collision last July 2017 where I hit some trees head-on when a motorcyclist was suddenly in MY lane on a blind S-curve. It was enough to need new front bumpers and hood, and titanium rods in my broken back.
Now, my front driver & passenger speakers come on/off at their own discretion. Also, both front electric windows will no longer go up/down, but the rear ones work fine...all things stopped at about the same time.
I took the truck to a car stereo shop and as expected they told me I needed a whole NEW system (the front speakers were off at the visit). I bought a OEM main switch for the windows, locks (online) but have not put it in yet as I don't know HOW to get it out to replace it. Some say it extracts from the armrest and others say I need to remove the door panel.
Can some of you long time Dakota guys help a lady out??? Pleeeease?

According to the FSM, if you have a quad cab, you need to remove the door panel - the switch is attached to the panel with screws. If you have a standard or club cab, you can pop the switch out of the door panel. I don't know why the difference, but that's what it says.
Hopefully, the parts you got will resolve your problems, but please be aware that the door locks are controlled by the Central Timer Module (CTM, the equivalent of a body control module).

I sure am thankful for your reply and info. My door locks still work fine. Just the 2 front windows stopped going up/down. IF i need a CTM is there a good place to buy one or will NAPA, etc have them? I still have problems with club cab, crew cab, quad cab, but know it has 4-doors and full seating in the rear, so believe it is deemed the 'quad cab'. The manual it came with says quad cab. Thanks again for saving me from prying the main switch out. I have learned over the years to go gently, ask, and ask again before breaking things!

If it's just the power windows, the CTM is not involved. To my knowledge, no parts houses (NAPA, AutoZone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly, etc) carry the CTM. You can find some online dealers that will sell you a new one for about $350, but if you can get the part number off yours, you can get one on eBay, used or rebuilt for $70 - $200. But it doesn't sound like you need one right now.

FYI, a quad cab has four doors. A standard cab and club cab only have two doors, but the club cab has a 'baby' back seat in the stretched cab.

Thanks for that clarification on what cab is what. I spent the morning looking at CTM forums and comments and the only thing associated to my CTM is my key fob has been working off and on as of late. I thought it was the battery as it hasn't been changed in years. The fob broke while I had it apart so I ordered a new one on Ebay, and will see what happens with the new one. The power windows issue is a pain because I have to get out of the truck to do banking or stuff that requires an open window. Since I have the new master switch I will tackle removing the door panel this weekend if it is nice outdoors. I can do it, just didn't want to IF I didn't have to. I will post IF that was it when I find out. If the one project goes well I may look at the CTM as see if it is corroded, etc.
I sure appreciate your input.
