Default 3.9 to 5.9 swap

Hey all, new member here. I apologize if im in the wrong area. Anyways I want to know if i could swap out my 3.9L for a 5.9l 360 magnum. 91 model club cab. Would the motor mounts line up? What harness should i use and whatnot. Also what transmission would i need? I'm looking to build my truck so i can use it daily but also be a demon on the track on the weekends. Thanks for any input!

Well, yes, the same motor mounts fit if a 2WD truck; not so sure on the 4WD.

Which transmission - well, that depends. Do you want automatic or standard?

Are you going to go carbed or EFI; if EFI, factory or after market?

Since to run factory EFI on a Magnum motor you'll need to rewire to take a EFI PCM, I'd rewire to 1996 specs so I could pick up the JTEC and OBDII and then it's tuneable by folks like Flyin' Ryan and Marty something, to suit what you want.

Mine is the 2wd automatic. I'd like to stay automatic i don't have the time or money to switch over. Thanks for the info. Any more would be greatly appreciated

Then I'd look for a 46RH; even if you go carbed, you can drive the lockup and the OD with pressure switches, a vacuum switch, and some wiring.

Some will say a 727 because they can be just about bullet proof; the 46RH is a 727 design with OD and lockup torque converter, so you keep road manners.

I'd grab the factory service manuals for both your 1991 (as it is) and the donor truck so you can plan out what has to be changed between the two of them (such things as the 1996 cruise switches wire up differently than the 1995 and earlier, for instance.)
