Default 1996 Dakota newbie please help

I have a 1996 Dakota 3.9L , truck starts fine from cold start. But, anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes later kills no after what speed I am driving. Although, if I am driving 40mph or faster, sometimes after it kills, before it comes to a stop if I feather (lightly tap) the gas it will sometimes very loud & start up all on its own again. Please help! I have changed the fuel pump assembly , the coil, plugs & wires, rotor & distrib. Cap& pickup, the Idle air control valve, the throttle postion sensor, temp sensor & I don't know what to do. I can't afford to keep swatting money at it , changing parts & still having the same problem. I am waiting on open heart surgery for an aortic aneurysm about the size of a tennis ball & keep getting stranded. Please help y'all!! Thank you in advance for any help. Also , I logged in 2 nights ago through facebook and thought I posted, but couldn't find the post or any .. I am sorry if I posted twice. Tonight I logged in under my username as Toolowtofall. Thanx again, for any help, I really need it.

With symptoms like those you should have a CEL. I'd highly recommend getting it scanned. If the CEL isn't on, you might want to get it scanned anyway since there may be stored codes in the ECU.

Try removing the catalytic converter temporarily. Seems like it might be a clogged cat given the description; idles fine, start driving and dies. Go over 40 putting more pressure through and it will drive (probably has low power I'm assuming?) and then dies when coming to a stop.
