Default Why is my PCV hose going to the driver's side of the intake on a 99 5.9?

So I've got a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T that I replaced some hoses on. I ordered a new PCV hose using the correct part number and VIN and I got a short kinda 90 degree hose. But when I look at mine it actually goes from the passenger side where the PCV valve is to the driver's side of the intake. The normal spot or where I've seen most 5.2 and 5.9 PCV hoses is capped on mine with a rubber plug. Did some 5.9's use a long hose? Or do I possibly have a 5.9 from another truck? I've never been able to figure this out. Could I just swap the plug to the other side of the intake and use the new hose or is there a difference? I've had the truck for a couple years now. It has 193,000 miles on it. The transmission has been replaced with a later year 46RE but I don't know how to verify if I have the original engine or if it even is a 5.9 and not a 5.2. It's definitely a true R/T by the VIN. I may have seen somewhere on the block a 5.9 marking cast in but it's been awhile since I've been under it.
