Sounds like the fuel pickup is leaking at about the 1/2 tank mark.

Easiest fix is to just replace the fuel pump assembly; I'd keep the old one and in free time rebuild it for the next cycle.

Check the wiring diagrams for your 1994 - the fuel pump relay AND the ASD relay have their coils wired up almost identical. I'd swap the two, see if you get spark but no fuel.
