2004 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab
I recently purchased a bed cap and am having serious issues with wiring up my third brake light at the top of my bed cap rear window.
The link above is the kit i purchased.
So far I wired the third brake light into a connector, one positive and one negative wire. The connector is attached to a ground and tapped into the white wire on the left rear running brake light, as per the directions. The other two wires going into the rear running light are yellow and brown. I have made sure that the connection to the running brake light is secure. I turned the brake lights on, and there is power to the running light. When I ground the black wire, the new third brake light does not come on. I thought maybe the bulbs are out, so I attached them directly to a 12 volt. They both come on. What am I missing?
The connector I am using also has two more openings for the dome light. This uses the same ground and is supposed to be tapped into the dome light power wire. Where is this located and what color is it?
