I have 1993 Dakota 5.2 that cranks and runs great but every so often when i turn engine off and go to restart it it turns over but wont startup like its out of gas then it starts up idleing rough and goes dead when put in gear then it smooths out and runs and idles fine until this happens again any advice or inputs, suggestions would be appreciated
This could be one of 3 things: replace your control module within the distributor. 2. crank sensor. 3. Cam sensor. They all kind of act the same until it won't start at all.
actually 2 things; these trucks do not have any sort of "control module" within the distributor. the "cam sensor" is AKA the "distributor pick up" and very well could be causing the issue as could the crank sensor as mentioned.
if the plugs are flooded/ gas fouled they won't fire until they are replaced.
