Default After lots of work, cranks but no star

I have a 2005 dodge dakota 3.7l 4x4. That will crank, but won't start. My boyfriend and I have done lots of work to it and are at a loss as to why it won't start, it's getting very frustrating.
All the problems started when the power steering pulley broke which broke the belt. We have replaced the following::
Power Steering pulley
Radiator
Thermostat
Serpentine Belt
Head Gaskets (pass & driver)
Spark Plugs (twice)
All (6) Ignition Coils
Fuses & Relays
Cam Sensor (twice)
Crankshaft Sensor (twice)
Throttle Position Sensor
Idle Air Control Valve
Coolant Temp Sensor
MAP Sensor
Air Filter
Oil & Filter (twice)
Cleaned fuel injectors
Timing chain guides
Cam (driver side)
Cam gear & flywheel (pass)
Lifters (1xpass & 3xdriver)
Rocker Arms (3xdriver)
PVC Valve
Harmonic Balancer Pulley
Battery
After all of this the truck cranks, but won't start. It wants to start. We do get a backfire through the intake about every 4 or 5 starting attempts. The error code we keep getting when we turn the key 3 times is 11. We are getting fuel. We are at a loss as to why the truck won't start. Any thoughts or ideas as to what might be the problem would be greatly appreciated.

One wonders what the whole story is. As you describe it, after the power steering pulley broke, and after it and the serpentine belt were replaced, the engine never started again. I don't know if you know what a "parts cannon" is, but you defined it in this case.

I don't know why it didn't start right after the power steering pulley incident, but I'm guessing right now that your timing is off. There are three timing chains, two cam gears, a crank gear, and an intermediate gear that have to be in time for the engine to run.

But all anyone can do here in the forum is guess. What you need is to have the engine checked by a qualified and experienced mechanic who knows how to use a scope to check your injector pulse, ignition pulse, and compression to ensure that everything is working together to fire and inject fuel at the right time.

Or you can just keep putting in new parts and hope that something eventually works.

Old Marine is right. I hate to say this, but you've probably thrown a lot of unnecessary parts and money at it.

The only thing I would add is just because the starter appears to be cranking and working doesn't mean it's fully operational. The other speculation, would be electrical/PCM. If you didn't disconnect the battery in the process of all the repairs.

Good Luck!

This is my first post, so I'm going to relay everything that I have seen. And all the bitching in between. When you start it, does it crank? Just clicks?
I have an 08, have been through it all with that truck in the 6 whole months I've owned it. From less obvious to most...First, do you have the sentry key fob (the original key that is physically set into the remote)? A solid red light will indicate a security issue on the dash. Google the unlock sequence (I think it's lock door, from, inside. Unlock with key, lock with remote, unlock, start. 2. Start the truck in neutral. I have a 6spd so I'm not sure about this but apparently there is some security thing. 3. Battery cables. Particularly the one going to the starter. Check them. Check your grounds. Make sure your starter cable is going to the positive terminal on the battery. 4. Check the bolt that is on the starter. If anything is loose, it will cause major issues (fire in my 08 due to a-hole friend using air wrench unnecessarily). 5. Yellow wire coming from starter. Immensely important, inadequately protected.
6. Hate to mention something that I haven't tried personally, but, pcm. Since you've basically replaced the entire engine, screw it. Apparently some are bad. IMO, replacing parts on the fly (unhook your neg cable, please) like some people like to do, will definitely ruin a computer, so unless you did that, skip that solution until you're sure.
Good luck. Don't just ask then leave. Update us all.
