Default '08 Dakota has issues starting

I've taken it to the shop, and they couldn't replicate the problem, so I'm posting a link to a video I took when I could FINALLY catch it in the act. Basically, I turn the key and it cranks, but it just keeps cranking, even when I let go of the key. When I turn the key back, it stops. It seemed completely random at first, but now it seems to do it more when I've been starting and stopping a lot. The mechanic couldn't get it to do it, so it's been a pain in the tookus getting it fixed lol
Here's the video:

Any help would be great! I'm taking it in again tomorrow morning, and I emailed the shop the video, so hopefully I won't be getting stranded in any more friggin' WalMart parking lots

I do not know for sure, but I'd bet the ignition switch itself (NOT the lock cylinder!) is failing.

That, or the linkage between the lock cylinder and the switch.

I would also like to know what the fix was for this problem. I'm experiencing the same issue with my 2008 Dakota 3.7L

This sounds stupid and obvious, but clean your battery terminals, and remove, brush, clean, and reseat your ground straps, along with any other battery related wiring. For my 08', it was the cable going from the alt to the positive terminal on the fuse box that was ever so slightly corroded and loose.
