What hitch??

Hello,
I have a 2004 quadcab, 3.7 engine. I bought it used last may and have had no issues at all so far. I'm thinking of putting a hitch on it. I have very little info and can't really tell from the owners manuel what the max is I can tow. I don't see a need to pay for a hitch that can deal with more than the vehicle can handle. My goal is a midsized lightweight camping trailer.

I'm turning to the experts. Any thoughts?

get a class III or Class IV. you will break a class II hitch before you haul what your motor can pull.

I pulled a 4500lbs car on a 16' overbuilt flatbed trailer reinforced to haul tractors, with my 1981 300ci straight 6 with 120hp.

I have since hauled a 6000lbs tractor on the same trailer with a 93 f150 with the 300 straight 6 with 150hp

A camper is a feather compared to that.

my wifes 07 3.0L escape came with a class III from the factory.
