Default 06 Aftermarket head unit, Power but no sound

Hello everyone, New dakota owner here.

07

So I got my new head unit all wired up (i left off the ant power because there is no power ant and i had this unit in another vehicle and it worked fine without, ill hook it up soon to test if for some reason thats causing it) and plugged in and im getting power to the head, everything functions normally, but there is no sound. Started playing with wires, ya know wiggling them, rechecking proper connections, so forth and couldnt come up with anything. I noticed that there is two plugs that go in the back of my stock unit and only one get used in the harness so I tried plugging the stock unit back into only one to see what would happen. Unit came on, sound came out, everything was good so im not sure exactly what the other smaller plug, which has three wires going into it, does.

The head scratcher is that I plugged my aftermarket back in and PRESTO! it works. sounds comes out. Only problem is that after a few shut offs it stops working again. So heres the deal, if I replug the stock unit in, get sound, unplug stock unit, plug back in aftermarket, get sound for a bit then goes back to no sound if i leave the truck off for more than a few minutes.

Recap:
dont have a wire diagram for head unit harness, will be looking this up shortly, so I just followed color to color on wires but only left the Ant power wire unhooked.

Stock unit had two plugs going into backside. wiring harness only uses the one plug leaving the second plug, which has three wires (iirc all green variants) having no connection.

aftermarket unit has power but no sound

plugging in stock unit, getting sound, then plugging in aftermarket unit gets sound for short time.

Thanks for looking!

So a little update for my readers

I've discovered that I do indeed have a factory amp that I located behind the passenger kick panel. This leads me to believe that I have found my issue. I assuming there's something in the factory radio thats kicking on the amp and its staying on for a bit even after power down just long enough for me to switch to my aftermarket deck. why it would continue to power even after disconnecting (I can leave the aftermarket deck running definitely) I dont know but im gonna take it back to best buy where i got the harness and im praying they will let me return it even though ive cut into it. figure ill recut it up all new looking and hope for the best.

all also talk to their stereo tech while im there because maybe there's something im missing

So I took the other harness back and swapped it for the amp one. Wired it up and plugged it in.

Now the deck doesnt turn on.

Strangely enough I know its getting power because when i plug it in(to the factory harness) you can hear the disc reader... do something and during this noise my usb connected device lights up to indicate charging.

So im basically at a loss as to wtf is going on with this.
