Default looking for new radio

I had my last radio go out about 6 months ago so its time for a new one!

I'm wanting to know what kind of radios you guys have had luck with and what you would recommend. I'm going for good performance and longevity. So it needs to look nice and perform well for a long time 3+ years as long as possible.

Price is not an object although I'd like to not spend more than $200 unless its truly worth it.

Thank you for reading

I can't help much - I'm still rocking a Mopar AM/FM/Cassette/CD player in my 1988! *grins*

Also, be sure to check Crutchfield out - they have some nice reviews of several head units there.

Ight I'll check it out. While I'm at it I'll get reviews off other websites too. It really seems to be hit or miss as to weather or not the radio you're getting is good. LOL

I put in a nice Kenwood KDC-BT852HD from Crutchfield. I wanted all the bells and whistles, and I got them. I liked the XM Sirius integration, and used that a lot. Pandora and Bluetooth integrated with my smart phone, but I've since got rid of that and went back to a basic phone. The biggest disappointment was the HD radio. Not many HD stations in my rural area, mostly in the big cities. So that was a lost expense. Phone integration was handy when it didn't lose synch. Pick the features you want, don't by the "all in one." BTW, the manual for this beast is over 160 pages, in English. Not counting the other languages!

Well Marty it sounds like you got one stupid fancy radio. How much did it run you and how good does it sound?

Just pulled the receipt from my files. December, 2012, just over 3 yrs ago. Radio was $239, XM module was $20 after rebate ($50), harness, mounting kit and instructions and shipping included. Total $310. I could have saved $100 if I scaled it down a bit. I don't even know if this is still a current model.

It sounded fine, through the factory four speakers. No amplifier, and I was going to upgrade the speakers, but ended up trading the Dakota when the transmission started acting up.

By the way, I didn't trade it in with the good radio, I put the old cheap radio back in before I traded. The Kenwood I described, with the mounting, the XM module, wiring harness, etc, is still in my garage. IM me if you're interested, make me an offer.
