Just bought a 1988 Dakota. It is regular cab 2.2L 5 speed standaed shift.
Brought it home today and it is real under powered.
I want to know how to get more power without spending a bunch. It has 94,669 miles on it.
I have a 2008 Big Horn 3500 Dually with a Cummins in it. I bought the 1988 for gas milage but it won't pull itself up a small grade without losing speed and having to down shift.
Any ideas will be helpful.
Thanks, Dean

Welcome! not too familiar with that engine so not sure what can be done to increase power but im sure a good start would be to change the oil and use a good synthetic (pm me for more info) and change the spark plugs. how many miles are on it?

Welcome to DakotaForumZ, glad to have you aboard! Sounds like a cool truck, any pics? We'd love to see it! I'm not familiar with that engine, either, but surely someone else here can offer some advice on how to get more power out of it. Good luck with that and I hope you enjoy the site! :)
