Hey all, new here and found this forum searching for a problem.

Acquired a 2010 Dakota 4x last year. A couple of months ago the air flow went to barely coming out. Turned the truck off at the store, came back out and it was working great up until today,,, again. Air is cold, blower running wide open but back down to a lack of air flow exiting the vents. Apparently these trucks don't have a cabin filter so that leaves that out. Anyone else had this problem or know what the cause might be?

Evaporator freezing up?

That would explain why letting it sit "fixed" it.

Another would be one of the actuators failing, and the air is going somewhere else (defroster? heater? Somewhere).

You don't specify if it was coming out elsewhere or not.

Preciate the reply. No air escaping anywhere just a very slow flow out of the vents on the dash. Had to drive from the Memphis area to Dallas today. 3 or 4 times it did this. After about an hr it would blow hard for a few minutes then go back to the slow flow

Does sound like it's freezing up.

That's usually caused by - strangely enough - refrigerant being low. And possibly a plugged drain.

Work on the drain first; and get your refrigerant levels checked.

Your 11 year old used vehicle, I would get good AC gauges, probably just low refrigerant. Especially if you do not know the history of the used vehicle.
