I was wondering if a PCM from a 94 automatic 2WD will work correctly in a 94 manual 4WD? I already did the swap and it runs fine, but my 4WD indicator light doesn't come on anymore when I engage 4WD. My mechanic told me it was because the PCM was from a 2WD is this true or is he just trying to get out of doing more work?

auto.manual may make a diff but 4X2 vs 4wd DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE.... you don't relly need a light to tell you that you have the 4wd on, do you?

Are you running some kind of salvage operation? :D
Why did you swap out the PCM?

I don't see that the PCM is involved with the 4x4 switch from my Haynes manual.

The 4x4 partime indicator and 4x4 full time indicator are turned on from the
4x4 switch.

1. Part time LOW
2. Full time
3. Neutral
4. Part time HIGH
5. 2WD

Now there is a position encoder on some 4X4 transfer case models..maybe
that is the way yours is configured. Check it out.

I couldn't find any 4x4 signal coming into the PCM on the 3 connectors to
it.
