I was driving my 04 Sport 4.7 last night after fixing a vacuum leak, and I found another problem. I was coming to a stop and I put it in neutral when I saw the rpm drop to zero. It happened so smoothly I thought that the tachometer had died. It started right back up and made it home where it died again as I was slowly shifting from reverse to drive. The only code the truck is throwing is p0499, which is an emissions thing.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help

Happened to me with my '99 - mice or other damage to the wiring harness is the most likely cause.
