Not sure if replaced "fluid" yet in it...That transmission has its roots back to the TorqueFlite (A727) which is electronically controlled...
You may want to check Again on what transmission you have...The 42RE is used in the RAM. You may have one of these? The VIN would tell you unless of course that transmission was replaced before? Good luck.

The shifts are regulated by the valve body using conventional shift valves for 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts. Identifying whether a transmission is 42RE or not is easy once you have access to the transmission case. The ID numbers of this system are stamped on the side of the transmission case (precisely on the case’s left side around the oil pan)
