Hi, after putting brand new tires on my 'Koda yesterday, the trans failed on the way home today and I just got back after it was towed. This truck has 189k miles on it, I think it makes more sense to replace than to rebuild at this point because a ~100k junkyard trans with new bands and solenoids will be drastically cheaper than having mine rebuilt and I'm not willing to do it myself.

However, there is an alternative, and the title might have clued y'all in on that. How involved is the swap to an NV3500? I'll be honest, as I think this car's main duty is going to be hauling crap around (but not towing as my Vic is better) and offroading, I'm thinking a freshish auto is probably a better choice. Thoughts?
