I have a '99 Dodge Dakota, 5.2 engine, auto, 4 x4. In August it started having an idle problem when cold. it hunts for idle and will die if put into gear, only when cold, once it warms up a bit it runs normally. The check engine light is not on. What is the likely cause?

Weak cold idles are normally due to a bad or dirty IAC. Suggest removing and cleaning it. Then checking with your DMM what its values are at resistance and volts.

From there check for any vacuum leaks.
