ok, so i will soon be changing the oil in my R/T and noticed that the oil filter is off to the side of the engine. is there anything special to put under the filter when i take it off or will it drain straight down without getting all over everything and making a mess? im used to changing the oil on a neon where the filter was vertical right next to the drain plug.

It's gonna make a pretty good mess no matter what. After you install the new filter, wipe off what you can and spray the rest with brake parts cleaner to wash off the residue.

never thought of that. is there a good angle of approach to get to the filter or is it pretty accessible from underneath?

well it wasnt as bad as i thought it was gonna be, not much of a mess at all from the filter. that thing is awful close to the exhaust manifold!!

and yeah, i just now changed the oil, over 6000 miles on it, should have done it back in november!
