Hello all, I am about to lose my mind troubleshooting this!
When I start up my truck after it’s been sitting for more than a few hours, I get starter click a few times. On the 5th try it so she starts up, and she will start up just fine if I drove within the last few hours.
I don’t want to wear down this starter, as it’s new (replaced it to try and solve this problem). I’ve also replaced the battery and alternator recently just because they were old, and during troubleshooting I’ve also replaced the starter relay.
Truck is an 05 with the 4.7 v8. Let me know if anyone has had this problem and found out how to fix it!

This sounds very much like a grounding problem. Have you checked connections from your battery through ground cables to the engine and the frame? Really check. Make sure the battery post is clean, the cable itself has no green junk showing where the wires enter the insulation on both ends. Unbolt the cable at the engine and frame attachment and ensure you have clean metal on the cable and the vehicle, scrub with a wire brush if in doubt.

There was a slightly loose and dirty connection to the negative terminal, cleaned and tightened it last night. Today, truck started up first try, looks like that was the problem! I’ll give it a couple more days just to see if anything else is loose, but it looks like that solved it. Thanks for the help!
