I blew up the rear axle in my 93 Dakota, now I am searching the boneyards for a replacement, how do I confirm what axle ratio I had so I can match the new one up. I was told w/4x4 they have to be exact. can I just give the VIN # to a dealer and find out what it was made with?

You could order a build sheet for your truck. That would provide the rear axle ratio.

To order your build sheet, go here: http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/index.html select contact customer care by email, then select "Contact Dodge", then complete the web form. Make sure you tell them you want the build sheet for your vehicle. They'll want to know a dealership where you bought it or where it was serviced. I've done this for my '09 Charger (bought new) and my '99 Dakota (bought used). Good luck.
