My Dakota randomly had a rough idle at times. Ive replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils, fuel injectors, reset, and yet the problem still appears at times. I decided that my next step would be cleaning the throttle body and the idle air control valve. But i cannot find one anywhere on or near the throttle body. So either I'm blind or there isnt one there. If there is one, where would it be? If there isnt one, what should i do next? Ive spent enough time and effort trying to fix this issue that its starting to seem like there isnt a fix. Any and all help, ideas, suggestions are welcome. Thanks

If your Dakota is 2004-2007 3.7L V6, it does have an idle air control (IAC) valve. It is mounted on the throttle body on the driver's side right below the throttle position sensor (TPS). If your Dakota is 2008 or later, it does not have an idle air control valve because the throttle plate is controlled electronically -- there is no throttle cable. With electronic control of the throttle plate, the ECM can control idle directly and doesn't need an IAC valve. On the later version, the TPS is integrated into the throttle body and is no longer a separate component.
