my wife bought this 2002 Dodge Dakota 4 dr 4 years, ago. I have a fan resistor and the connector heated up on pin 1 and the fan is not working. And this will be the second fan resistor for this truck. I have googled wiring diag for this resistor/ connector and the two generic diagrams show different wire locations. The second diagram i can't locate but the wire color and pin are as follows.
Pin1 - Black/tan stripe
Pin2 - Dark blue/yellow stripe
Pin 3 - Light blue
Pin 4 - Light green/yellow stripe
Pin 5 - Tan
And what\t I have pin 2 is Black/tan stripe, Pin 1 is Dark blue /yellow stripe as the diagram shows.
Is this correct or do pin 1 and Pin 2 swap.

Went thru this problem with my 2004 Dakota. Solved by changing out the resister wiring harness, and the fan motor. Once the resister harness starts overheating, you are doomed to replace it and never fix it. Likewise, if the fan motor is drawing too much amps, that will melt the resister connection and blow the circuit. All of the parts combined (at Rock Auto) are not expensive. and the part are easily accessible under the dash(by the glove box).
