I've found a '73 340 in rebuildable condition. I have a plan to blueprint the shortblock and install my 98 heads and top end. I know, a 360 would be torquer. But I have a understanding of engines and engine theory. I want that 3.31 stroke with the larger bore I cant get from the 318 . If a 360 could be destroked with a 318 crank....they do make .030 oversized mains...another subject for another day.. I'd like to know from you guys if the retro roller cam install will be an issue. I'd expect to do minor work such as mounting the spider, but figured some of you guys may have done this to an LA block. If this project comes to life, I'm gonna put it in my 98 SLT.

They do make roller cams for LA motors, yes. IIRC, uses AMC roller lifters.

You'll also have to make some motor mounts; that 340 (if it's a Chrysler one) won't have the proper bosses for the Magnum style mounts.

I THINK that at least one after market block maker has a Magnum mount 340 block out there ... but don't quote me on that!
