i have a 1995 3.9l v6 slt. just bout it and the gas gauge doesnt work. would it be a fuse, electrical, the floater? any ideas?


also the truck has sat for months before i bought it, and the door handles dont seem to want to work. what could that be?

any help would be amazing. thanks

My gauge did't work either. Then my truck wouldn't start. The fuel pump is in the tank, so I had to get a new tank. Presto my fuel gauge worked again.

No there is no fuse. it's probably the sending unit/sensor in the pump that's gone..:(
The sending unit is directly coupled to the PCM which updates the gas guage which
is controlled by the cluster controller.

That's going to be an expensive fix to replace the entire fuel module in
the tank as the tank has to be dropped (normally).
There is a ground wire that supplies the guage/sensor and that should be
checked first,

Probably some rust on the inside. Get a can of WD-40 or fogging oil and get inside around the door handles and spray the mechanism..that should fix it.
