Hey everyone, was wondering if there was a build possible that would get my 3.9L motor to around 220-250HP? I know I could do a V8 swap but being that my grandfather passed the truck down to me I would like to keep as much of the numbers and parts together that I can. Any idea on what internals I could work with? About how much would it run me? Any info and ideas would be great. :D

it'd be alot of $ but a turbo setup and some spray would get you there but would also get you a big boom if not built up to handle it

Hmmm....sounds like the best way to do it would be to just do the V8 conversion and then just keep the original engine on a stand off to the side. It would probably be alot cheaper and I could keep my V6 original.

thats the way i would go, get yourself a nice 318, or 360, and get the computer out of the same gen (try for year too) that your truck is, and just wire it up drop it in and make sure you get the proper v8 flexplate

It looks like this thread was started ten years ago. It appears there is some interest in improving the 3.9 V6. This one has 6K views, I ask about the same thing a year ago and it has 4K and our build thread has 5K in several months. Seems the pat answer is add two cylinders. As a result of the current supply shortage of just about everything my project will require a couple more weeks. Steve
