Putting a " Thrush Welded " muffler on?

  • Keep the catalytic converter and it will still sound good And not have to worry about passing DEQ

Just got a 2001 4x4 slt 4.7 and I want to change my exhaust I found a "thrush welded" that's a knock off flowmaster I want it to sound deep and louder then stock but not insane and annoying from inside the cab with the windows up!!
Should I keep my Cat on? I do have to go through Washington State DEQ I'm not sure what the rules are on cats. I guess my question is will it still sound good keeping the cat on and just changing the muffler???

Keep the cat. Thrush has been making good sounding mufflers since before I can remember far longer the generic sounding Flowmaster.

legally you have to keep the cat. no way you'll pass emission test without it. that sucks cause the county i live in does not have emissions so i cut my cats out and i noticed some power gains but the biggest increase was the 2mpg jump up.
