What is the maximum towing capacity for a 1989 dakota with a v6 magnum?

found this online: "depends some came with 3.10:1 some came with 3.44:1. You can tell if you look at the rear diff and the casing is black then you have the 3.44:1 if it is silver then you have the 3.10:1. The shorter gearing (3.44) is about 3900lbs recommended the taller gearing (3.10) is only about 2500lbs."

On my 96, towing a little Harbor Freight trailer with a KLR on it (so probably not more than 7 or 800 lb.) it felt to me like the trailer was "pushing" the truck so it tended to feel like it wanted to understeer. Really makes you slow down on hills and in the curves.

BTW, mine is a 4wd, 5.2, automatic with the factory (fwiw) towing package.
