Hello all,

1997 Dakota, 3.9L V6, 2 wheel drive, Club Cab, SLT, 130k.

I have owned the truck for about 4 years now. I have had a consistent problem with the passenger's side pads wearing much quicker that the driver's side.

Actions to date: New caliper, new brake hose, all new brake fluid(bled clean).

Next Steps: Proportioning valve, brake line, master??

Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks.

Hey JimmyC,

You didn't mention that the caliper bracket was replaced, so I would start there next. Is it only passenger front? Is the rear wearing too.

If its only the front, and based on the information you provided, I would say replace the caliper bracket itself. The slides can wear out inside and stick, causing the pads to hang up and not return to a neutral position - which would cause uneven wear

Those years of Dakota had a slew of brake problems. Unfortunately, its pretty common.

Otherwise, we can go over the obvious...do you have a bunch of heavy stuff on the passenger side? Tool box? Roof Rack?

...do you like big girls? Its ok if you do. They need love too lol maybe just don't drive them in your truck so much
