I've modified the kegger. Certainly helps above 3000rpm. I really don't want to lose bottom end torque as I've got the 3:55 gear. But the PCM is definitely a chokepoint now. Full length 2.25 duals, shorty headers thru a 40 flowmaster. Modified kegger, CAI, relocated IAT, MSD ignition, relocated coil to firewall by distributor to shorten coil wire, 180 therm, and a Transgo shift kit. My PCM has adjusted well so far but I believe more power can be had with a more aggressive timing curve.
I put a Hughes intake on my 96 5.2. Beautiful intake, at the nice low cost of cough! $600 cough! But I love it. It revs quick and clears a ton of extra space on top of the engine. Getting behind the throttle body has never been easier! 20 to 21 mpg, depends how much I keep my foot out of it.
