So I had an orange Dodge Dakota for many years so when I found the exact same Dakota which just needed an engine swap and had a perfect frame I picked it up and swapped engines.
Now I have a problem I want to switch plates to the other Dakota I did the engine swap on and make it so it's like I'm driving the same Dakota because they're the same color make year and model I think it shouldn't be a problem.
I know I have to swap Vin stickers on the driver's side of both trucks but what else do I have to do.. the reason I'm doing this is because what's the point of registering this different Dakota and pay ing $400 when I can just switch plates and a few Vin stickers... They're the same color make and year I shouldn't have a problem right?

There is a second metal Vin tag under the carpet, under the passenger seat. But technically, it's illegal in many places to swap Vin tags. What kind of problems can you have? Well you might get away with it, because police don't usually look real close under most situations, but if you try to sell the truck and it's noticed it can be a real problem and set off red flags. Worse possibility is the truck maybe mistaken for being stolen since there is no way to replace the hidden Vin tag without damaging the tamper resistant rivets that it's secured to the floor with.
