It looks like dental floss! What is it? 1987 technology, eh?
I am trying to identify a rattling noise in the dash and saw this when I took the cover off.

That is the cable that moves the shift indicator to let you know what gear you are in.

Oh, I see! So I can tighten that and be able to NOT have to have the indicator in "N" to go into reverse?
