I have a 99 Dakota with 318 Magnum, automatic and part time 4WD. It started life as a Solar Yellow Club Cab, but due to extensive cab rust, the body was swapped. It now has a 2001 Quad Cab on it's frame and a custom made step side bed. You can see some of the images of the swap here; http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/RXT60/library/?sort=3&page=1
(Sorry I hadn't updated the photos to show the bed yet!)

1999 Dakota SLT standard cab, 239 V6 almost all options I just turned 76,000 miles on it, and love driving it. I have never had anything other than a 2wd standard cab in any of the trucks that I have owned, previously had 69 D100, 83 D150 Royal with factory utiline bed, 88 D100 I bought new and had for 18 years and a 91 D150. The Dakota is the only one of my trucks to have a short bed, and the nicest of all of them equipment wise. I do wish it was a club cab though, so I would have room to put my stuff!

I have an 03 Dakota sxt that I just purchased from a buddy. It's white in color but I have thrown a few updates on it such as wire mesh grill and bed coating. Looks a lot newer than it is and it's just over 104,000 miles.

right now (2) club cabs a 92 2wd and a 96 4X4 both 318/auto.
in the past a 93 318 club cab (miss that one especially since I put the stick trans into it, badly wrecked)
before that a 94 reg cab short bed V6/auto 2wd, a 90 2wd longbed and an 89 2wd longbed both of these, v6/auto. the 90 I had for 5+ years, had to go back full size for a while (Dakota wasn't a big enough cab for car seat, diaper bag, etc) the 89 I bought as a flip that I was lucky to get out of it a whole $50 more than I put in.... back in 2001.

I have a 1996 Dakota Sport 318 rwd regular cab ,that is my daily driver. I bought it new in 1996.It still runs like new and I keep it looking like new.I see it as a lot cheaper than buying a new one.

When you consider paying the state sales tax. (in KCMO it is 7%) and then paying personal property tax, You are absolutely correct. I bought a new 2005 Dakota 4 dr Laramie. It has 159000 miles on it and it runs like it did when it was new. I'd be a fool to get rid of it. The ONLY shortfall rust on the rear wheel openings---Chrysler products should be ashamed of themselves.

My Dakota is a 2003 Quad-cab SLT+ w/4.7 V8 and auto trans. Has 70K original miles, runs and drives like new - everything on it works. Bought it new. I plan on being buried in it.
