Hello Friends,
I bought a 1994 Dodge Dakota with what seems to be a common electrical fault. Please help with suggestions if you have seen this, and have experienced a true solution. I'd appreciate no guesses here.
Symptoms all seem related to one fault...
Headlights do not work (only high beams, and only if holding the switch back).
Radio Does Not Work.
On Board Computer on Ceiling has no power.
Power Windows Do not Work.
Power Locks Do Not Work.
Climate Control Blower Motor Does Not Work.
Everything else works normally, i.e. all other running lights, blinkers, hazard flashers, dimmer for dash lights, odometer, speedometer, starts up just fine, runs fine, and is a good truck.
I've checked all fuses and I haven't found any blown ones. I haven't manually tested all relays, but didn't find any main relay that is supposed to carry all those things alone... so not sure where to even start on that possibility.
I replaced the highbeam/wiper switch, only to effect no change. (Somebody suggested that this could be broken, and causing a short through the system, but it didn't work)
I'd rather not blindly throw parts at this vehicle. Naturally. And I'd rather not chase down and test every electrical line.
Thus, Ive turned to you wise forum enthusiasts! Hopefully someone who has seen this before, can point me in the right direction!
Thank you sincerely,
Zac
